I&T: Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Joette was sleeping face down in her pillow with the comforter thrown over her long blond hair. She flipped over and the comforter fell off the bed. The morning sun casts its glow through her window and shone directly on her face. It was already late the night before when Ing helped her with her luggage back to her room. She didn’t bother to unpack and went to sleep after washing up and changing to sleeping clothes.

Joette got up and went towards the window intending to draw the curtains to block out the sunlight. Her room window was facing the back yard with a small swimming pool at the side of the house. Before she could pull the curtains together, she spotted Mrs Yue walking on the lawn, holding a bundle of freshly picked flowers in old hand and her husband’s hand in the other. Hurriedly, Joette dodged downwards and started to crawl towards the toilet in her room.

Mrs Yue put the beautiful flowers she has picked in a crystal vase partially filled with water. She carried the vase into the living room where the elegant white grand piano sat quietly at one side. She smiled as she laid the vase on the piano’s varnished top. She proceeded to the kitchen to help the servants bring out the breakfast she has helped prepared.

Soon, Ing and Yue came down to the dining room to have their morning meal. Yue wore a warm grey blazer over a white long sleeve blouse with a matching metallic silver tie. Ing on the other hand looked less formal with his short sleeve pale blue blouse and greyish slacks. They sat down at their respective places at the dining table and started with breakfast.

Halfway through their meal, Joette burst in throught the sliding door.

Joette: SURPRISE!!! I’m back! Everyone missed me right?

The three turned to look at her; two of them shocked. Yue had scrambled eggs half dangling from his mouth while Mrs Yue was about to sip her coffee. Yue quickly swallowed his scrambled eggs.

Yue: Are you supposed to be back here now?

Joette: I sent you an email telling you…

Yue: You sent an email telling me that your vacation starts in two weeks’ time from now!

Joette: Daddy… I did apply for leave and there’s no more important lessons after exams.

Yue: I was even thinking of having us fly over to spend a week with you there before coming back together. And you just took a plane off without informing us? Think about present day terrorism and

Joette interrupted: But I’m back now.
Yue: Nevertheless, it is irresponsible. You can’t just miss lessons and appear back home all of a sudden.

Ing: Dad, Joette has got good results I have heard. She has been doing fine in her school the whole term.

Mrs Yue: Please stop the arguing. I’ll ask the servants to get Joette some breakfast. And you two should be getting ready to set out soon.

Yue could not bear to irritate his wife so he sat down to finish his breakfast while using the newspaper to distract his thoughts. Mrs Yue went upstairs to get changed after informing the maids that Joette is back. Mrs Yue wore a shin-length white skirt with large light blue floral prints and a pale yellow blouse. She folded her sleeves and tied the front hems of the blouse together into a bow-like knot. She brushed her silky hair and tied it up in a bun. She sat in front of the mirror and dabbed her lips a shade of rose pink. Before leaving the room, she picked up her handbag and a folder of scores.

Yue: So I see that you have an early lesson today?

Mrs Yue: Yes, a new student. The boy is only 6 this year.

Yue: Ah… you and your passion for music. I see that another young gentleman will have the feel of your hands on his today. Shall I be more envious of this new boy or your beloved piano?

Mrs Yue looked down and smiled at her husband’s joke.

A/N: Hi! This is Emz. Another update. Hope you will enjoy. I was actually thinking of closing down this blog since the readership is like totally pathetic but then, thanks to a friend for some encouragement and reminder. She asked me what my goal is when I started to write the stories and posted it on the blog. Then I thought that the initial aim was not to gather large readership. In the midst of writing, I started to have another aim. It is quite ridiculous so I won’t be telling you what that aim is. I think the new aim was really hard to achieve and since readership is so little, I had thoughts of giving up and forgot the initial reason I started to write the story. Let’s see how long I can go on. Well, in this chapter, you will see that the Yues are a very loving couple. I hope I manage to succeed in depicting Mrs Yue as a woman with elegance and poise. Do leave a comment.

Love ^^

I&T: Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Tsan dreams often in her sleep. Her dreams always ended up with her having an accident and then having her looking lifeless or dead. Sometimes, there were images and other times, there were only voices. The faces and voices were familiar but she could put a name to none of them. She always woke up perspiring with her black hair pasted on her face, feeling cold and afraid. The worse was the headaches that come after the dreams and she would not be able to fall asleep again that night. This seemingly peaceful star-filled night was shattered by her dreams once again…

------------------------------

There were no lights. Everything was black and blank. Tsan could hear her gentle breathing, feeling the cool breeze soothe her skin.

It started with a whisper she could hardly hear, hardly understand. It was a gentle voice, something like a soft humming.

A woman’s voice, soft and comforting whispered a name.

Was it a name? Was it my real name? Tsan thought in her sleep.

She saw the blurry surrounding through the eyes of a younger her. The younger her had shorter hair that ended in the middle of her neck. Her fringe was the same length as the rest of her hair and it was brushed away from her face with a neat side parting.

She was lying on a bed with white bedspreads, arms over the edge of a set of warm white blankets. A woman with long white fingers was resting one hand on top of her hands and her other hand was gently placed on her forehead. Tsan couldn’t make out the woman’s features clearly, she could only feel a warm motherly gentleness emitted from this woman.

Is this woman my mother? Tsan thought.

Tsan looked around the room. The walls were plastered with pink wallpaper. She was lying in a hospital ward. The lights were too glaring, and she shut her eyes. All was black again.

The woman spoke, “Darling, are you still wearing the chain I gave you?”

A man’s voice replied, “Yes.” “Can you take it off? I am going to chain my ring to it.” The woman said.

Tsan felt the cold feeling of metal on her neck as the woman tried to put the chain onto Tsan’s neck.

Woman: This will keep you safe and healthy. When you get well, we shall go for a holiday somewhere, I promise. The beach resort will be nice won’t it?

-----------------------------
Momentarily, there was only blank and there were no sounds.

She felt cold. The wind was blowing strongly and her hair was in her face. It was the 9-year old healthy Tsan in the dream. She was skinny and small built like a 7-year old child and her cheeks were a little sun burnt. She was tugging at a woman’s hand with long white fingers.

“Mummy, mummy. Please… can’t we bring the dinghy out to the beach today? Please?” Tsan was saying.

“I am afraid Daddy and Mummy can’t go to the beach today, darling. Didn’t you have fun the past few days playing at the beach and the resort?” The woman’s familiar voice said.

“But why? Why not today?” Tsan’s cute little voice said.

“Daddy invited important people to the resort today. Why don’t you ask your brother to bring you?”

----------------------------

“Be careful sweetie! Take care of your sister and don’t row too far out!” The woman said as little Tsan walked out the back door of their resort house towards the beach with a tall young boy not much older than little Tsan.

“Bye mummy! Make sure the guests enjoyed themselves!” Little Tsan said as she waved to her mother.

---------------------------

Little Tsan: Let’s have a race brother!

Brother: No, you just recovered.

Little Tsan: Well… I can say start and we will run towards the sea and I shall row the dinghy while you can swim. That will be fair.

Brother: Let’s skip the run. We shall have a water challenge! It will be less tiring for you.

Little Tsan: Ready, set, go!

Little Tsan grabbed her single heavy paddle and jumped into the dinghy.

It was already drizzling and the sky was over-cast with low dark clouds. The waves came strong and rough. Tsan was rowing her dinghy further and further away from shore. The young boy was swimming hard but their distance was slowly getting further… Tsan would not let her brother win her even though she has an advantage over him so she rowed harder to beat the waves. Without warning, Tsan’s dinghy was overturned by a huge wave. Her paddle came with another on-coming wave and hit her on her head.

There was only blank... and the pain seeped in.

---------------------------------

Tsan woke up in her bed, perspiring. She tried to recall her dream but it was hard. Her headache was hindering her. She stumbled to the toilet in the Jiang’s house, rinsing her face with cool water, trying to douse her headache.

-----------------------

A/N: Hello! This is Emz! I believe the dream has given you a little hint on Tsan's pass. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. The story is picking up. So check back regularly for more updates! Love ^^

I&T: Chapter 8

Chapter 8

There were few clouds that lace the dark-blue star-filled summer’s night sky. The breeze that blew cooled the surroundings rapidly but it left a comfortable temperature to beat the day’s heat. Tsan sat on her bed propped up by her soft white pillow, positioned next to a large window without grills. It was so unlike the ones in the orphanage dormitory. The dormitory’s windows had vertical grills that made the place looked less homely and more like a prison. There was not much freedom in the orphanage but there was a strict routine timetable to follow. Tsan left the orphanage when the head mistress felt that it was time for her to go – at the age of sixteen. Tsan was not even sure she was sixteen when the head mistress broke the news to her. It was three years ago and Tsan was not even financially stable to support herself. However the head mistress was kind enough to find her a new family.

This family consisted of a loving couple whose own children had grown up and moved away. They felt lonely as their own children rarely visited them. They quickly agreed to let Tsan move in without much persuasion from the head mistress. Tsan recalled the day she stood in front of the old couple’s house behind the head mistress, looking down at the flowers while her head mistress talked to the couple.

Head mistress: I am sure she will be suitable to live with you. Tsan is an intelligent girl. She has been doing part-time work already, so I believe she is mature enough. Besides she is already 16.

Old Jiang: Money is not the problem. We just want a child who is independent and someone we don’t need to trouble over. We are already in our 60s.

Tsan mumbled to herself, “I am only 15. I am not yet 16.”
She was surprised the thought even occurred to her. She don’t exactly know her actual age nor her birthday. But occasionally, she would remember a thing or two.

Old Jiang’s wife took a look at Tsan and said, “ Well, she looks 15 to me. Are you sure she is 16?”

Head mistress: Well, we can’t be sure of her age can we? Besides, she has always been a very matured and independent girl. We didn’t want to let her go to someone else so soon, but she appears to be the best and most matured person to leave us amongst the lot.

Mrs Jiang hobbled her way to Tsan and picked up her hands in her wrinkled ones, then she peered into those glassy bright eyes.
Mrs Jiang’s: You’re such a dear. Would you like to live in this house with us, the two old ones?

Tsan liked Mrs Jiang immediately. If she doesn’t agree to stay with the Jiangs, she would have to start thinking of how to live on her own. Tsan nodded in response to Mrs Jiang’s question.

The head mistress was glad to have found a home for Tsan, she wouldn’t have like to see Tsan roam the streets like some of the orphans that left the orphanage when they had to.

Tsan was really happy to move in with the Jiangs. There were many procedures to take and they had to decide on many details for Tsan before she could make her identity card. Tsan agreed to follow the Jiang’s last name and they agreed to keep her first name.. They asked Tsan if she really like her first name and she showed them the ring on her necklace. It was her only real possession. So, she was called Jiang Tsan. The family has also agreed on her age and birthday. Tsan had said that she especially liked fireworks as it always reminded her of something in the past but she couldn’t recall. So they came to decide that her birthday would be on national day whereby there are vast fireworks displays and the whole nation will be in celebration. They also concluded that they wanted Tsan to be 15 years of age on the year that they adopted her.

Tsan drifted from her reverie of the day she was adopted by the Jiangs into a slumber and she started to dream… a dream of something so familiar, so long ago, so distant.

-----------------------------------
A/N: Hey! This is Emz! I haven't been updating for very long I believe and my readers are getting impatient! I doubt I have many readers anyway. Sorry to keep you people waiting. This whole chapter is all about Tsan. I believed I have neglected her for a few chapters already. I believe the next chapter will be on her dreams. Curious? Keep checking back for updates! And do add comments too! I enjoy reading those reviews. Love love ^^

I&T: Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Invictus did a swerved reverse and parked his bright blue MPV (multi-purpose vehicle, usually a big 7-seater car) into the parking lot. He has changed from his office clothes to dark blue jeans, a clean white t-shirt and a grey hooded jacket. He pressed the button of the lift and went up to Oasis restaurant.

Joette was wearing a brightly coloured halter dress, hair done up in a neat French braid and her eyes are in the shape of emerald stars. She was already seated at one of the window seat in the restaurant when Invictus walked in. She waved her arms frantically when she spotted him.

“Vic! How long has it been since we last met? I missed you and you can’t imagine how much!” Joette squealed as she rushed to give Invictus a hug as he approached.

Invictus could only roll his eyes and gave Joette a gentle pat on the back.

Towards dessert, Joette complained that she doesn’t wish to go back that early and get an earful from her parents.

Joette: Why not let’s go to a pub somewhere? I believe I look old enough to get in. After all, I have managed to sneak in countless times overseas.

Invictus: Your parents should hear this. Well, if you insist, we shall call Ing along. It has been some time since I last met him. It’ll be good for the three of us to catch up.

Joette: You could see him any time. I can see him once I go home…

Invictus just picked up his handphone and started to dial for Ing.

Invictus: Ing! Vic here. Your sister is a hassle, come rescue me! Beach Bar. Fifteen minutes.

Ing: Alright.

-------------------------------------------------
In half an hour, the three were sitting in front of the bar-tender, sipping their drinks and engaged in talk.

Invictus: Ing, it must have been like 2 weeks since you came back? And you haven’t bothered to ask me out.

Joette: Yeah! And you didn’t tell me you intended to come back during summer break. I had to take the nasty plane ride alone!

Ing: Sorry, I was aware that you had an exam Joette. I knew you would do something crazy if I was to tell you that I will come back first. I have been busy with work since I came back. I’m working at dad’s place.

Invictus: And you jolly well didn’t inform me. I am working at that building now. We could have gone for lunch together.

Ing: I’m sorry for that. I meant to ask you out this weekend. Anyway, I wasn’t at all aware that you are working in the same building. What are you doing anyway?

Invictus: You know my aspiration of becoming a lawyer, like my dad. Just that I didn’t want to work for my dad. All that curry-flavouring is all unhealthy. What about you? If you’re working for uncle Yue, it means that the whole company will be worshipping you too.

Ing: That’s why I requested dad not to leak out my identity.

Joette: What’s up with you two? What’s wrong with people trying to please you since you are the boss’ kid?

Ing, Invictus: You won’t know!

Ing: You won’t learn much, for one.

Invictus: You won’t see the real ugly side with all that sucking up.

Joette: Whatever! I don’t even understand why you two have to work during your breaks! You’re going to work for the next 30 years of your life after graduation! I’d rather bum around. Let’s play pool!

They left Beach Bar and went to their cars. Ing has droved one of his family cars out.

Invictus: Well, I took my MPV out thinking that you’ll have lots of luggage. I guess now Ing will transfer all of your luggage to his car.

Joette simply grinned and sat at the passenger seat of Ing’s car. “Alright. Bye Vic! See you soon! Ing, let’s go. I need your help with all those luggage. We mustn’t let mum and dad know that I am back home till tomorrow morning!”

-----------------------------------

A/N: Hey! It’s me again! I had more inspiration today so here comes my second entry for the day. Yet again, I must advise all Joette fans not to try sneaking into pubs and get yourselves drunk. Also, if you drink, don’t drive! Take public transport home! I know I must have been neglating Tsan for quite a few chapters already. I promise I will let you "meet" her again soon! Read on!

------------------------------------

I&T: Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Nearing knock off time, Invictus was sorting a pile of documents and arranging them into different coloured folders. It was a tiring day with lots of documents to prepare but he had finished them before knock off time and decided to have a good rest and an even better weekend ahead.

As he was about to leave the office, his phone rang.

Invictus: Yeah?

Joette: Vic? Surprise! Joette here! You must have already known that I am back! I sent you a text as soon as the plan touched down!

Invictus: OK.

Joette: Is that all you have to say? 'Ok' Is not enough! I don’t plan to go home yet. I’ll grab a cab down to Oasis restaurant. Your treat!

Invictus: Alright. I guess you need a car for all your luggage. I’ll make my way home from work, grab a car and see you there.

Joette: Drive your red Ferrari.

Invictus: That’s not for you to decide. And I want a souvenir from you. Bye.

Without waiting for anymore of Joette’s endearments, Invictus ended the call. Following that, he dialed a number.

Invictus: Are you in the vicinity? Can you give me a lift home?

Jayde: Yes darling! I’m just about to leave my club. Fifteen minutes ok?

Invictus: Which car did you take out today?

Jayde: Red Ferrari. See you in the lobby in like fifteen!

Invictus: Make it five at the bus stop.

Jayde: Be fair! You can’t…

Call ends.

Ten minutes later. Invictus jumped into a red Ferrari driven by a woman with short, rust coloured hair and bright red nails, wearing a pair of expensive looking sunglasses. “Hi mum, you’re five minutes late.” Invictus said.
-----------------------------

Tsan has left the office five minutes ago. While waiting for his desk phone to ring, Ing picked up his cell phone and dialed Joette’s number.

Joette: Hello? Ing is that you?

Ing: Yeah. Hi. I didn’t expect you will come back so quickly. Has the summer break even started?

Joette: No. I applied to come home right after my exams. But anyway, vacation is going to start soon and there won’t be any important lessons.

Ing: I think Dad won’t be too please to hear that.

Joette: So you have to stand by me.

Ing: So, are you coming home for dinner in a while?

Joette: I am having dinner with Invictus. I guess I will just sneak back to my bedroom later at night and surprise them tomorrow at breakfast. Keep it from them for me ok?

Ing: Alright. If you need me to pick you, just call ok?

Joette: Yes, my protective older brother! Bye!

----------------------------

A/N: Hello! My dear readers! Wow. Making myself sound like a big shot writer now. Just joking. Well, so now we all know that Jayde (depends on how you like to pronounce: Jay-dee or Jade) is Invictus’ mum. So far she is my favourite character and I find her really cool! Don’t blame me for being biased! Haha. Probably Invictus got his ‘cool’ character from his mum. Anyway, please don’t learn from Joette! You shouldn’t be skipping lessons just because exams have ended! Keep reading and reviewing!

I&T: Chapter 5

Chapter 5

It has been about 2 weeks since Ing has gotten acquainted with Tsan and about 1 week since Tsan’s incident in the lift with Invictus. Both Ing and Tsan has apparently cleared up much of the pile up work from their individual departments. Both were then posted to the “Creatives” department since they have a shortage of manpower. The “Creatives” department is the core of the company and they are involved in coming out with advertisements for their clients. It was no incident that Ing was posted there as the Director believed that it will be a very good experience for him- especially when Ing will be taking over his position when he retires.

After a meeting with their supervisors, Ing and Tsan were paired up to brainstorm for some ideas for a new advertisement. Both were deep in thought with Ing pinching his nose and Tsan pressing a pencil to her lips. Suddenly, Ing’s phone began to vibrate on the table and Tsan with a shorter attention span diverted her gaze to his phone. She looked up at Ing, expecting him to check his phone but apparently, he was too deep in thought to bother.

Tsan: Hey! You’ve got a message!

Ing, busy scribbling something on his note pad replied “Please read it.”

Tsan biting her lower lip excitedly picked up his phone and started reading out loud. “I’m Back!… Yeah that’s it. Just like that.”

Ing: Alright.

------------------------------------------------------------

Invictus’ lawyer was out to court and Invictus was busy drafting a legal document for him. It was amazing how his fingers darted across the key board. His phone gave a short ring and stopped, indicating that he received a message.

“Damn! Not at this time! It better not be anything important.” Invictus said through gritted teeth. Afraid that it would be his lawyer passing down some important instructions to him, he quickly finished his sentence and checked his message.

It read: “I’m Back!”

“Grr… nice timing!” Invictus complained and went back to his document.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Joette is Ing’s adopted sister. She is only 16 going on to 17 within the year. Her haired was dyed blond and so were her eye brows. Her eyes were always of different colours or even patterns as she found it extremely entertaining to use special contact lenses just to hold people’s gazes. She was clearly aware that she is an adopted child but after spending more than 5 years with the Yue family, she has blended in comfortably. Yue was a doting father who pampers her while his wife was slightly distant but never mean. She is a cheerful and outspoken girl no doubt but she has always had a strong character. Perhaps the pampering she received from Yue made her more willful as she grew up.

Joette made a big fuss when Ing was sent to an overseas college. Yue finally gave in when Joette said she would not eat in protest. In the end, Joette was sent overseas along with Ing. It seems that Joette has always been specially nice towards Ing but this also applies to Ing’s closest buddy.

She took a flight immediately after her last examination paper when she learnt that Ing has already gone back home since his summer holidays starts earlier. She had immediately sent two messages when she got down the plane- one to Ing and one to Ing’s closest buddy.

--------------------------------------------------------------

A/N: Yes! In case you don’t know by now, Ing and Invictus are very close friends. What’s going to happen next? Will Invictus get to see Tsan again? Now Tsan is Ing’s working partner. What will it turn out to be like? Will they become more than just friends? The woman in the sports car is still left uncovered... who is she?

I&T: Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Invictus headed towards the bus stop after he had finished discussing the document with the lawyer. It was a hot day and the sun was still casting its yellow glow, so he shed his brown jacket, folded it and laid them hanging from his left lower arm and stuffed his tie in his office bag.

“I’m tired” he muttered as he made long graceful strides to the bus stop some distance away from the building. He looked up and spotted a sky blue coloured bus about to move away from the bus stop. Jolted out from his reverie, he ran a few steps after the bus. “Damn bus.” he hissed.

He moved towards where Tsan was sitting just a few moments ago before she boarded the bus. Sat with his legs bent, elbows resting on his knees, fist on his cheeks, he was already half-dozing when he was awaken by his cell phone’s ring tone. Lazily removing one fist from his cheeks, he reached his hands to a side pocket of his bag and picked out a phone.

“Oh her…” he glanced at the screen.
“Hmm? Yeah?” Invictus mumbled.

A chirpy, enthusiastic female voice replied, “Are you still in the vicinity? I am just around the area.”

“Mmm..hmm..” Invictus answered halfheartedly, “at that one and only bus stop. I just missed the bus.”

“Alright, I will pick you up in a while, darling.” the female voice said.

The woman had short layered haired, massively highlighted that it looks like her original hair colour was a shade of rusty brown with black highlights when it was in fact the other way round. She wore a big pair of expensive-looking sunglasses propped up on her high nose bridge. Her lips were glossed and pursed as she grip the steering wheel with her hands in which her nails were immaculately manicured with a coat of bright red polish. She wore a white singlet and tied an orange scarf on her neck. She drove the silver open top Mercedes sports car and came to an abrupt stop in front of Invictus.

Invictus looked up sheepishly, “I bet you have been speeding. Look at your hair! It is in a total mess!” He strode over to the car, flung his bag and jacket to the compressed back seat and hopped into the roomy front seat without opening the door.

The woman tried eagerly to arrange her hair using just her hands and the car’s rear-view mirror. Invictus was looking at her reflection from the rear-view mirror and he sarcastically commented “Vain woman!”

The woman glared back at him from the mirror and whispered menacingly “Damn you.” Invictus merely ignored her. She continued after a short pause “Hopping into the car makes you look cool huh? Hope you didn’t embarrass yourself by splitting your pants.” With that she sped off with the wind dancing in her hair and gently pulling at her scarf. Invictus looked away.

-------------------------------------

A/N: This is a short one. Who’s that charismatic woman? How is she related to Invictus? I’m left pondering for her name.

-------------------------------------

I&T: Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Ing was sitting alone at his desk at work, flipping through a stack of newspapers when the phone on his desk rang. “The car is ready. I’ll see you there.”

Ing sighed and began arranging the newspapers before he stacked them neatly with the pile of old newspapers. He picked up his bag and with long wide strides, he left the office and made his way to the ground floor of the building where the car will be waiting for him.

When the lift door opened, Ing could clearly see a black BMW through the glass doors. Ing couldn’t tell if the caller was already in the car through those tinted windows. He opened the car door and was greeted by a middle age man with silver and grey streaks at the side of his raven black hair. His complexion was tanned from all those Sunday golf trainings he had weekly. The skin on his face was stretched taut and it made his wrinkles looked even more defined than they already are. His face narrated the hardship he has endured during his younger days to reach the position where he is now – Director Yue of Moonbeam Creative.

“Hi Dad. How was your day at work today? Tough?” Ing commented upon seeing the director already in the car, seated comfortably with his arms folded across his chest, eyes closed, meditating.

There was no reply as the car started to move off. After 5 minute, the Director replied “Well, every day there is it’s own challenges. We just have to learn to deal with it, don’t we? How was yours?”

Ing: Monotonous, as usual. Cracked a couple of jokes with my new friend.

Director: New friend?

Ing: Yeah. Her name is Tsan. She is a part-time worker at the company.

Director: No one in the company knows that my son is working as a part-timer yet. Are you sure you don’t want to make it known?

Ing: I don’t see a point to. There is no need for any boot-licking business that involves me. I believe I can learn much more that way.

Director: It’s all up to you. Don’t come crying when you get your ass kicked.

Ing: You know I won’t get my ass kicked and you can guarantee I won’t come crying even if it is.

Father and son burst out laughing.

The black car cruised to a stop outside a beautiful white mansion. A beautiful woman stood up from a bench in the garden. Her hair was ebony black with hints of faded red highlights amongst those big silky curls. She had gathered her hair together with a translucent lavender scarf into a long ponytail that reaches the middle of her back. Her skin was translucent and flawless. Her eyes were a pair of reddish brown orbs and the fine lines at the edges were the only hints of her real age. Her rose-pink lips parted into a smile as she walked towards her husband and son.

She kissed her husband on the cheek while he gave her a quick embrace. Yue put one arm over his wife’s shoulders while she tried to mess Ing’s hair affectionately. Ing grimaced and held his mother’s hand, locking her long white fingers in his. Together, they walked into the beautiful house as the sun creeps towards the horizon tainting the sky a lush salmon pink.

-----------------------------------

It was a beautiful summer’s day and the sun sets late during the warmer seasons. Tsan was strolling down the sidewalk, enjoying the warm breeze. She finally made her way to the bus stop that was located quite a distance from her office building. Almost everyone working in this area drives a car or better- get chauffeured. The bus stop was hardly crowded, so was the bus. Most of the time, it was deserted. She sat on the high plastic bench at the bus stop, swinging her legs in mid-air, humming a tune she remembered even before the orphanage days. Little did she know that the name of this tune is the well-known piece “Canon in d” usually played on the piano.

The tune was her only solid memory of her life before the orphanage days. It has been 9 long years since she woke up and find herself amidst unfamiliar faces and could not even recall anything that happened before. She had her head heavily bandaged and it ached badly most of the time. When the head-mistress asked for her name, she could only shake her head in despair as tears trickled down those glassy eyes.

At that time when she first entered the orphanage, she was wearing a chain with a silver ring attached to it. “T S AN” was carved on the inside of the silver ring and so the head-mistress decided to call her Tsan.

-----------------------------------

A/N: Now we know that Tsan has lost her memory when she was a kid and was sent to an orphanage. I’m getting more inspirations at the moment. I would probably find some place to post this on the web. Finally managed to post it on this blog. Was thinking of looking for a nice skin for this blog. I promise I won't make it too bright, so it is less taxing on the eyes.

------------------------------

I&T: Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Within a few days, Tsan and Ing have become very good friends. Their own job had them work quite closely together and they talked while they worked, making the monotony of work more bearable.

It was around knock off time, and many in the office had already started packing to go home. Ing seemed to leave the office at a later time while Tsan will walk to a nearby bus stop to take a bus home.

Tsan: Ing, I am knocking off already. Aren’t you going yet?

Ing: Nope. I think I will still hang around for a while.

Tsan: You are always staying late. Come on, do they pay you more for staying late?

Ing: No they don’t. Run along, Tsan. I believe you are taking a bus back. Don’t miss the bus! See you tomorrow!
Ing smiled and waved a goodbye as Tsan walked towards the pair of glass doors.

Tsan has noted that Ing was always staying back to complete his work. Little did she know that Ing had already finished his work for the day and is just stalling time, waiting for someone in the office…

Tsan went out of the office through the reception area and pressed the button of the lift. She waited patiently, leaning her back against the doors of one of the lifts.
“DING!” The lift doors opened and Tsan fell backwards into the lift.

Tsan gasped and thought she would have fallen onto the floor, landing on her butt. Before she could feel any pain, she felt a pair of hands grabbed her firmly on her shoulders and prevented her fall.

Tsan steadied herself and turned around to the deep gentle voice asking, “Miss, are you alright?” She turned her inquisitive brown eyes towards the tall stranger, smiling, “I wasn’t hurt. Thanks to you.” And with that she did a slight bow.

Invictus, the guy in the lift, was also working in the same building as Ing and Tsan but in a different company- as a lawyer’s assistant, no less. He was dressed smartly in a brown jacket on top of a pinstriped blouse. There are a few light brown highlights in his wavy, bushed-back hair that matches his jacket. He was tall and lanky, muscle not too defined. He wasn’t much older than Tsan or Ing, but elegant in his manner of walk and talk.

There was an awkward silence as both tried to think of something to break the ice. It had been a long day and it seems their brains are already malfunctioning. They could only keep their eyes on the meter that indicates which floor they are on as the lift descends. Finally, the lift reached the lobby and Invictus reached for the “<>” ('Door Open' button) and held the door open for Tsan who was quiet during the way down in the lift. Tsan was very impressed by his manner and walked out of the lift. She made a slight turn of her body, smiled and made her way to the rotating doors of the building.

Invictus stood outside the lift shaking his head slightly, clearly amused by the petite girl. Perhaps he even thought she was cute. Well, she could have fallen and hit her head against the lift floor if he hadn’t caught her on time. It would be even more embarrassing for the girl if there were more people in the lift other than the two of them.

“Invictus!” his lawyer called, “There are some things I need you to work on. Can we discuss it before you go home? I promise to make it short.” Invictus had no choice but to go to his employer. He stole a glance at the girl from the lift as she walked out from the rotating doors. Damn, what’s her name? Back to work! He thought and focused his attention back to the documents.

A/N: I guess chapter 2 is more in the flow and less messy as compared to chapter 1. I got the name Invictus from Yu Ting. Credits to her…especially for some inspiration. Will Invictus meet Tsan again? It is after all not that easy to bump into someone. Why does Ing stays late even after finishing his day’s work? What could cause those sadness behind Tsan’s eyes? All left to be uncovered.

I&T: Intro and Chapter 1

Intro

Tsan is an 18-year-old girl working part time in a creative technologies company. She has shoulder length straight black hair tied in a loose, high ponytail with black silky ribbons. She stands at an adorable height and it puts focus on her high cheekbones when she looks up to talk. Due to her petite size, it is common for people to see her as a sweet doll and would wish to protect her from any harm. Her glassy deep brown eyes stares out inquisitively from her pale porcelain face with hints of healthy pink peeking out of her cheekbones.

Chapter 1

Tsan was walking across the office carrying a large pile of files in her arms. She tilted her head sideways in order to see where she was walking, letting the files lean on her body as she walked.

Ing was requested to come in for his first day of work. He is a reserved guy who does not care much about material Items. He wears a melancholic look beneath a mop of scrunched black sleep-head. He has very masculine features, especially his tall, straight nose and sad black eyes. It so happens that he works in the same company as Tsan but was dispatched to a different department. It took him some time to get to the office building by bus and by the time he reached the correct office in the complicated building, he was already half an hour late. He was too excited spotting the office that he ran straight in without seeing Tsan walking out with a pile of files.

Ing accidentally bumped into Tsan and knocked down a few files from Tsan’s arms. Tsan’s head was still tilted and was not able to see Ing. Although Ing was late, it did not stop his polite nature to pick up the files and put them back to the top of the pile. He said a hasty apology and strode off towards the Director’s office. Tsan let out a sigh and was about to continue when she felt the load of the weight in her arms lightened. Apparently Ing still felt bad knocking down the girl’s files and thought that it would be better to lend a hand. So he went back to her and took off half the stack from the girl’s arms.

Tsan tilted her head upwards and a smile broke out.

Tsan: Thanks. That’s really kind of you. Hmm, I wonder who was in such a rush and knocked down my files just now.

Ing looked down and saw the petite girl talking to him.

Ing: Oh, that was me. I am suppose to be here half an hour ago. It is my first day at work. I am really sorry.

Tsan: That’s ok. You apologized already and besides you are in some sort of rush I believe? Haha. So you felt guilty and decided to come back to help me?

Ing looked at her surprised, stunned by her comments.

Tsan: Haha. Caught you! I was only joking. Thanks for helping. By the way, my name is Tsan. Guess we will be seeing each other around in the office.

Ing: yeah! My name is Ing. Nice to meet you, Tsan.

Tsan: It wasn’t too nice to meet you this morning. I was having a hard time with those files. I would have to rearrange them again later.

Ing, shocked and guilty at the same time, “Sorry.”

Tsan: Haha. I was merely joking. Don’t worry, I think I will rearrange them before I go home. It is no big deal. I was only poking fun at you.

Ing could only smile. Tsan has given Ing the impression that she has a cheerful personality. However, Ing somehow felt that there was some sorrow that was behind those deep brown eyes.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Ing was being sent to the finance and accounting department to help out while Tsan was already doing her part-time under the Sales department.

There was a huge cabinet to store files and Ing was asked to file a large pile of documents. He sat in a chair near the cabinet sorting out the documents on a large black table.

Ing was so busy sorting and filing that he did not realize a small figure walking towards his table.

“Oh hello there! Erm what’s your name again?” came the soft voice. Ing looked up and saw Tsan standing beside the table.

Ing: Oh! Hi, my name is Ing and yours is Tsan right?

Tsan: Yes that’s right. I am Tsan. Can you make some space for me?Ing cleared half the table while Tsan pushed a chair opposite Ing and sat down with a pile of invoices to sort.

The two sat down quietly opposite each other, buried in their work and made an occasional passing comment. Ing was done with his share of work first.

Ing stood up and stretched his back.

Ing: Arh! Finally done with this pile! I believe that there is more to come tomorrow. Hmm, you said you would have to rearrange some files earlier on this morning. Since it is almost KO time, shall I help you with it. You still seem to have some filing to do yourself.

Tsan: Oh! That will be really nice of you. Thank you.

With that, Tsan directed Ing to the compartment of the filing cabinet and pointed out where she had left the files.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A/N: So that was how to the Tsan and Ing got to know one another. Is it going to be just a simple friendship, or will something blossom out of it? Could Ing be just an ordinary part-time worker? Then why does he report to the director instead of the human resource manager? There is something mysterious about Tsan. Is there something behind those happy brown eyes?

Oh yes, and the title is yet to be confirmed... meanwhile denoted as "I&T"
